Poet, prose writer, painter, engraver and gallerist. Born in Pano Zodia, Cyprus, in 1938. He studied public and development administration in UK and USA and holds a Master in Business Administration(MBA).
He served in senior positions in various Ministries and Authorities in the Civil Service of Cyprus(1955-1998), of which Secretary of the Civil Service Commission(1988-1990), District Officer of Paphos(1990-1996) and District Officer of Nicosia(1996-1998). He also served as President of numerous government, social, cultural and charitable bodies and as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus College of Art, as well as a Member of the Inquiry Committee for the New Nicosia General Hospital.
Costas Georgallides belongs to the first generation of writers and artists after the independence of Cyprus in 1960. In 1972 he was awarded the First Prize in a Pan-Hellenic literary competition. So far he has published six books: two collections of short stories, two collections of poems and one novel in Greek and one collection of poems in English. Part of his work has been translated into German. Six other books are ready for publication shortly. He is a Member of Cyprus PEN and President of EPOK(Hellenic Literary Association of Cyprus – established 1947, Award of Athens Academy).
In art he holds a diploma in architectural drawing and for eight he studied painting and printmaking in the studio of the renowned Cypriot painter and professor of art late Lefteris Economou. He has exhibited his work in numerous group exhibitions and in five solo exhibitions (in Cyprus and Greece). In 1995 he was awarded a prize in a Panhellenic Exhibition held by “Parnassos”, the oldest and most prestigious Cultural Association of Greece. He is a Member of EKATE(Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts).
